I never knew yellow raspberries existed until this Tuesday. We had breakfast at work and the cafe that caters for us brought a plate full of fruit. One of them being yellow raspberries. First I ate a blue raspberry to make sure my tastebuds remembered what it tasted like. Then I ate a yellow raspberry. I must say, for my taste, I'm not sure if I like it. It's definitely tasty, just not my preference.
Yellow raspberries are a lot more sweet than a regular raspberry. No tartness at all; just sweetness. I'm wondering if I was not as fond of it because I was expecting a tart taste instead of a real sweet taste.
My curiosity still lingers, so I may try it again next time I come across this unique fruit. But I most likely won't be the one to purchase them...

Edible Arrangements
I wasn't sure what to get Ira for his birthday. I finally decided that I couldn't go wrong with food, so I had an Edible Arrangement get sent to his work. It's pretty pricey considering the size. It included $8 to have them ship it over there. I did also pay extra to have half of the strawberries dipped in chocolate. Either way, this is healthier than sending a bunch of candy. At least it's fruit. My only dislike: the chocolate dipped bananas. They looked really great (half white chocolate, half milk chocolate), but it just didn't taste the same.

Pineapple Flower
Pineapple flower with a cantaloupe bud, dipped in chocolate. Oh, and on a stick. Delicious!

Epic Fail: Fruit Pie
We got a recipe book from my cousin for our wedding and I thought I'd try out her fruit pie. I felt compelled to try out a pie recipe after my company found out a pie competition was added into a BBQ fundraiser contest that we won last year. Of course, we are set on keeping our trophy at our company, so I thought I'd try out a pie.
For one, I've never baked a pie, aside from pumpkin. Plus, the recipe was kind of short, so I hoped I was reading everything correctly. Complete failure of a pie! I must ask her what I did wrong.First of all, the inside mixture was pretty liquidy. Not a thick texture I was hoping for. But, when my cousin made her pie at our house about a month earlier, her mixture was kind of liquidy and leaked through onto the pan. So, I thought I might have done something right. I was so wrong. (Plus, I added a little more wine that she instructed, but I don't think that made too much of a difference.) This wine was very tasty too. Wandering Grape Merlot. Bad picture though.
Second, for the crumb topping, I accidentally melted the butter too much, so it created a paste-like topping instead of crumb topping.
When I baked it, even after an hour in 400 degree heat, the pie never thickened. *sigh* First fruit pie turned out to be a fail. Next time.
